I bought the Max 2.0 with the Harvia Top Steel heater… I have been in it every day since - the build
quality is excellent and it does exactly what I wanted. Two of my mates have already called to order
their own.
You Already Pay for a Sauna. It Just Lives at the Gym.
We do the membership sum with you, and show what the money actually buys: access, privacy, no timer and the benefits you are already chasing, ten steps from your own back door.

Start here
The gym sauna is not the problem. Getting to the gym is.
The short answer
So you have the habit. Only the address is wrong.
You are probably not wondering whether you like saunas. You settled that on a wooden bench at a gym, and you have been arranging your week around it since.
Everything that makes it fragile is logistics, not heat: the shared bench, the timer on the wall, the car park, the drive home with wet hair, a ritual running on somebody else's hours.
This page moves that ritual rather than starting a new one, and it does the money honestly: the full sum is a few paragraphs down, worked both ways.
What the money actually buys
Access, privacy and no timer, first. Then the part the gym never put on a poster: decades of research, including the well-known Finnish studies, point to physical and mental benefits from regular sauna use, year-round, and paired with an ice bath you get the instant hot-cold contrast.
The Max Traditional Sauna 2.0, full glass front, benches visible through the door. Designed in Australia, 100% built in Europe.
Everything below is what stands between you and that, in the order it will cost you money.
The arithmetic
Your membership is really sauna money. Do the sum.
If the sauna is why the membership survives each January, it has quietly become a sauna line item. Put your own number in.
In one line
You already pay a monthly line for sauna access. The sum below shows what owning one buys instead.
The membership ledger
Your membership, per month$
Multiplied by twelve$
Arc Barrel, our cheapest European build$7,990 to $10,990
Mini Traditional 2.0, traditional heat$11,990 to $16,990
Mini Infrared Full Spectrum, compact infrared cabin$12,116
Two lines are missing on purpose: delivery and assembly, and the electrical connection. Both are covered below.
Now the part most pages leave out
Take the Arc Barrel at $7,990. To pay that back inside a year, your membership would have to be $665.83 a month. It is not. Nobody's is. Better to know that now than at the deposit.
There is a friendlier version. Spread across ten years, that $7,990 is $66.58 a month, which sounds a lot like the membership you already have. That is the arithmetic a salesperson would show you, and it quietly assumes a decade of steady use.
One is too harsh, one is too kind. The real case is bigger than the sum: access, privacy, no timer, and the benefits you are already chasing at the gym.
The honest case
Why the sum is not the point
Four things the gym sauna does to you, and what changes when the room is yours.
1. The bench is shared
At home nobody else is in there and nobody is waiting. Honest note: you also lose the other people, and if the gym sauna is where you speak to anybody all week, that is a real loss.
2. There is a timer on the wall
Gym saunas run on cycles and closing times. At home you get out when you have had enough.
3. It is a drive
Ten steps replaces twenty minutes each way, and the winter drive is what usually kills the habit.
4. It runs on their hours
Nine at night, a Sunday, the gap before the school run: yours. The one friction that follows you home is the cold cabin, answered below.
The part where we tell you to keep the membership
A home sauna does not replace a gym, it replaces one room in a gym. If you also use the pool, the classes or the weights, price this as an addition rather than a swap.
The number most people carry in their head for a home sauna is higher than the entry cabins actually are.
Best I can get until I spend $20k on a home sauna.
Australian commenter, public sauna thread. Not a PlusLife customer. That gap between the imagined figure and the real one is where a year gets lost.
What changes
Ten steps from the back door
The short answer
It is a room with a door that closes, at an hour when nobody needs you, at an address you already live at.
It is nine at night and the house is quiet. No gym clothes, no bag, no closing time, no car. You walk out the back door in whatever you are wearing, leave your phone on the kitchen bench, and sit in a hot timber room for about twenty minutes with the door shut.
Then you walk back inside.
The Max Traditional Sauna 2.0, front. Manufacturer photography.
Strip out everything we sell and the question is small: is there a version of nine at night where nobody needs you for twenty minutes.
Before you read another price, go and look at the corner
Where it goes decides more than the brand does, and it is the one part of this you can settle tonight without talking to anybody.
The two-minute version: go out to the corner you keep picturing, photograph it, and measure floor to ceiling. That turns a browsing problem into a measuring problem, which is a much smaller one.

What your electrician needs to know for your model
Here is how a home sauna habit dies, and it is never dramatic. It is a Tuesday in July, you get home at seven, you are tired, and the cabin is cold. At the gym it was already hot when you walked past it.
So the honest version of this purchase is not "buy the room". It is buy the room and remove the wait. On PlusLife's traditional builds the heater can run through the Wi-Fi controller, paired with an app on your phone.
The Max Traditional Sauna 2.0, door detail. Manufacturer photography.
You schedule it from the app before you leave. The cabin warms while you are in traffic.
It learns how long your sauna takes to heat. Not a brochure figure: your cabin, at the temperature you use.
It tells your phone when it is ready. So you are not guessing in the kitchen.
The two numbers people ask for
Heat-up is 20 minutes to an hour on average, depending on the temperature you want, and with the controller that wait happens while you drive home. The Wi-Fi controller is an option on every traditional sauna, at a premium, and heaters that do not take it come with built-in controls instead. Pricing for both sits on our website and is confirmed on the call.
The app behind it is Harvia's. Harvia is a publicly listed company and the biggest sauna heater manufacturer in the world. If the cabin sits a long way from the router, a cheap Wi-Fi extender covers the gap.
The full cost, early
What it costs by the time it is standing in your house
The number you are looking for is three numbers, and only the first is on any listing.
1
The sauna itself
Every model priced on our website, no quote form in the way.
2
Delivery and assembly
Both are real numbers, quoted to your address before any deposit, never hidden inside the sticker price.
3
The licensed electrician
Every sauna we sell needs one, and the figure depends on your switchboard and the cable run, so it is quoted separately and excluded from our number.

The electrician, said first
A listing without the electrician on it is not cheaper. It is quieter. A traditional sauna is hard wired: it does not run from a standard 10 amp outlet.
Electrical costs are not on the website because they vary by property. If a figure is needed the electrician is about $1,500. We also have a network of sauna-trained electricians we can recommend, and your own electrician can speak to our team about your model's requirement before they quote.
Running cost depends on the heater's kilowatt rating, your tariff and how often you use it.
Infrared or traditional: two different jobs
This is the decision that stalls people. You already know which heat you like.
Designed in Australia · 100% built in Europe
Traditional
From $7,990
A heater and stones. Hotter air, water on the rocks for steam. The heat you know from the gym bench.
42mm walls on the premium traditional line, and the why: thicker walls mean better insulation and faster heat-up.
The Wi-Fi controller is an option at a premium, or built-in controls, depending on the heater.
Infrared line · Australian design
Infrared (Full Spectrum)
From $12,116
Radiant panels rather than a heater and stones. Gentler heat, slower to feel, no steam.
The infrared line is Australian design, available indoor and outdoor.
If the gym sauna is what you are reproducing, that is a traditional cabin. If you like a long gentle warm-through, infrared is a real answer, not a lesser one.
Warranty, in writing, per model
Max Traditional 2.0 is five years residential, extendable to ten. Every model's term comes in writing before any deposit, because we stand behind the products we sell.
Comparing quotes
Six questions to ask every sauna company, including this one
By now you probably have two or three tabs open and they all look much the same. You cannot audit a cabin from a photograph.
What goes wrong is rarely dramatic: boards that crack after a couple of summers, a door that stops sealing, a heater sized to the wrong cabin. A cabin that fails does not cost you the cabin. It costs you the cabin, the removal, the replacement and the electrician a second time, which is why the gap between the cheap quote and the considered one is narrower than it looks. So here are six questions with checkable answers, each answered for ourselves underneath.
A cabin that fails does not cost you the cabin.
1. Where is this range actually built?
Not the company's registered address: the factory. Ours: our traditional saunas are designed in Australia and 100% built in Europe, where sauna was born. The whole traditional range is 100% built in Europe, including the Arc, Cove and Meridian. A certificate of origin is available on request. The infrared line is Australian design, available indoor and outdoor.
2. What timber, and how thick is the wall?
Ours: 42mm walls on the premium traditional line. Thicker walls mean better insulation, faster heat-up and a better sauna.
Timbers are Thermo-Aspen and Thermo-Pine, chosen for harsh Australian climates. Benches in Aspen or Alder, knotless and smooth so you do not get burnt. Bench heights are set for proper loyly, so the whole cabin is heated.
3. Whose heater is in it?
"Heater included" on a listing tells you nothing. Ask any seller for the brand, the model, the kilowatt rating and how it was sized to your cabin: four facts, one email.
Ours: we partner with Harvia, the biggest sauna heater manufacturer in the world. Harvia is a publicly listed company, with options based on your usage and sauna size.
4. What is the warranty on this model, in writing?
The term on the model you are actually buying, not a banner figure. Ours is five years residential on the Max Traditional 2.0, extendable to ten.
The Harvia Wi-Fi control panel. Every traditional sauna can be optioned with it, a premium applies, and Harvia is behind the app.
5. Is the price public?
If you have to hand over your details to find out what a sauna costs, ask why. Ours are on every product page.
6. What happens to my money between deposit and delivery?
Sauna companies have gone into liquidation and left buyers without their deposit. Ask anyone for the payment schedule and the delivery window in writing before you pay a cent.
Ours: family-run since 2021, in-house assembly nationwide, Harvia parts, showrooms by appointment, and your terms in writing before you pay anything.
The real question
Will you actually use it?
The short answer
Ownership does not ask you to build a habit. It removes the four things that keep interrupting the one you have.
Underneath the price this is the question people are least likely to say out loud: would I use it enough for it to be worth it.
If you are already a weekly gym-sauna user you have more evidence about yourself than almost any buyer has: you have been getting in the car for this, and rearranging a class for this, against a full-time job and a household.
A purchase whose first beneficiary is you can also feel indulgent, which is usually why this research lives in screenshots on your phone. That is a different question from whether the thing gets used.
You have been getting in the car for this.

Who is behind this page
Where PlusLife fits into your evening
PlusLife Health is family-run since 2021 and founder-operated by James Little. We are in our own saunas every week.
Our traditional saunas are designed in Australia and 100% built in Europe, where sauna was born. The infrared line is Australian design.
We would like the chance to help you plan it. Not to close you, to plan. A sauna bought without a clear answer on where it goes, who wires it and when it gets used becomes expensive garden furniture.
Two of my mates have already called to order their own.Liam H., New South Wales. The Cove Barrel, outdoor traditional. Manufacturer photography.
After the call, things happen in this order
The first step is the cheapest and most reversible thing on the list.
The call. Short, and by phone.
Format, size and placement for your space, delivery and assembly for your address, and what your electrician needs.
The base goes in.
A deck or a slab, level and load-bearing, with the power run planned to it. Your electrician can quote while it goes in.
It is delivered.
Some models and colours are in stock and ready to go, others are built to order. Waiting until the base is ready adds the build time on top, so a deposit holds your unit until your site is ready.
It is assembled.
Our in-house assembly team installs saunas nationwide, and is experienced with the tightest of spaces.
Your electrician connects it.
We have contacts around Australia; otherwise use your own electrician.
Heat and enjoy.
Then the twenty minutes is yours, at your address, on your hours.
So when you are sitting in one depends less on when you decide than on when you start.
Before you book
The questions most readers ask next
What the money buys is access, privacy, the end of the timer, and the benefits you were already chasing at the gym. The membership sum is worked both ways further up the page.
Probably not. A home sauna replaces one room in a gym, so price it as an addition rather than a swap.
Yes, for every PlusLife sauna. The call tells you exactly what your electrician needs, so they can quote in parallel.
No. Set it from the app before you leave the office and the cabin warms while you drive, then tells your phone when it is ready. On average a cabin comes up in 20 minutes to an hour.
Five years residential on the Max Traditional 2.0, extendable to ten. Terms differ by model.
Indoors it is ceiling height, footprint, the floor and the power, so usually a spare room, a wide landing or a garage corner. Outdoors you need a level, load-bearing base and a power run.
Every model's dimensions are on its product page in millimetres, and we read them against your room on the call. Your spec sheet and the technical drawings for your model come with your written quote.
We get it. You want to see it before you buy. Speak to us about our locations, and showrooms are open by appointment. If a visit is not practical, use the gym sauna a few more times while you decide.
You should not trust it. You should check it. The six questions above were written to be used on us as hard as on anyone else.

The next step
Move the address. Keep the ritual.
You are not deciding whether you like saunas. You settled that years ago, on somebody else's bench, on somebody else's timer. What is left is the two things no amount of further reading settles: which cabin fits the room you actually have, and what it costs delivered and standing at your address. Bring the photo of the corner.
